The Year of The Dog

Happy Birthday Bubbles!

My sweet, sweet doglet's birthday is today. Darling Rosie, my Raison D'etre, the Light of my Apartment, the Keeper of the Flame, the Ultimate Puppy, Super Dog, Very Special Dog, The Only One Who Cares, Ball Specialist, Rollergirl Herder, my True Companion, my little Rose-Wad.

She's 1 long year old today.
It was a very long year. Many shoes were lost to The Cause. Tears were shed. Doody was found. Rosie came, saw, and tries every day to conquer.

Because I have opposable thumbs, successful completion of her mission of Household Domination continues to elude her.

But Rosie will persist. If there's one thing that can be said about my dog, it's that she's tenacious. She will not give up her quest to be The Highest Appointed Official in my house, even though I appointed Grace, my Very Special Cat, to that role a few years before Rosie was even a twinkle in a working dog's eye.

So, fight the good fight Roseanne Rosannadannadog, have another stellar year of being so much fun and so adorable that I can hardly even look at you without wanting to lean over and take as big of a bite as I can to eat all of you up. If I loved 25 pounds of anything the way I love Rosie, I think my heart might explode.

Now everyone go out and get a dog.

Not only will your dog bring you joy like nothing else in the whole, wide world, but you'll have a hundred and twelve funny stories, you'll have something you have to do every day, and you will learn a patience that you thought was only practiced by Tibetan gurus and your mother.

You'll have this adorable, responsive, excited, loving animal who keeps the burglars away and who eats the cat turds from the litter box so that you don't have to clean it anymore.
